SBI4U TPEE Short Answer Exemplar
Today we learned definitions for isomers, structural isomers and stereoisomers. Then we looked at some examples of each and discovered glucose and galactose are in fact stereoiosmers. You could be asked to example why they are in this category on a test or assignment. Here is an exemplar of a short answer (paragraph) answering this question. Notice that no stone is left unturned here, and the explanation is rooted in the definitions of the terms that are used. Furthermore, an explanation of why they cannot be considered structural isomers is also explored to further support the answer to the original question.
